Typeside is an AI writing assistant that works in every app on your Mac. Wherever you type—mail, chat, or documents—you can complete, edit, translate, and write text at the cursor without switching apps.
Features
Autocomplete
Pause while typing to see a suggestion for what comes next. Press Tab to accept it.
Quick edit
Select text to show the quick edit button. Click it to improve or translate the text.
Prompt
Press ⌥ Space and describe what you want. Typeside writes it for you.
Dictation
Press ⌥ V and speak to enter text at the cursor.

Get started
- Install Typeside by following Install and permissions. During setup, click Download on the "Prepare AI model" step.
- Type a sentence in Mail or Notes and pause. An autocomplete suggestion appears.
- Select the sentence, then click Improve on the quick edit button.
Get started with Pro
To use Prompt, Shorten, Expand, and skills, you need a Pro license and one more AI model. The model you downloaded during setup (the on-device light model) can't run these features.
Register your Mac by following Activate your license.
Prepare an AI model. Choose one:
- On-device general model: Download an additional model to your Mac (several GB). It costs nothing extra, and your text never leaves your Mac. See Download on-device models.
- Cloud AI service: Add an API key from a service such as OpenAI or Anthropic. The service bills you for usage separately, and these fees aren't included in the Pro price. See Connect a service.

In a text field, press ⌥ Space to open Prompt.
